DENVER (AP) — Democratic Sen Mark Udall is airing his first campaign ad, contrasting his support for abortion rights to Republican Cory Gardner's opposition.
The spot features images of concerned women as a female announcer talks about the distinction, part of the Democrats' strategy to win the 2014 midterm elections by swaying suburban female swing voters. Udall's campaign said it bought $500,000 worth of airtime for the ad.
Gardner's campaign says the attack ad shows Udall has no record to run on.
The Colorado Senate race is expected to be one of the most expensive in the nation. Republicans must gain six seats to win control of the Senate.
