SOUTH LEBANON, Ohio (AP) — Police say a man who barricaded himself inside a southwest Ohio home was fatally shot by officers when he took "aggressive action."
The armed man killed in South Lebanon Monday night by Warren County sheriff's deputies was identified as 56-year-old Gary Cook.
The sheriff's office said Cook had threatened the deputies before locking himself inside the home. Deputies had come to serve him with a restraining order because of domestic violence.
The standoff ended at about 10 p.m. when Cook was shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Two officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.
The sheriff's office didn't release details about what Cook did that led deputies to shoot him.
South Lebanon is northeast of Cincinnati.
