Delta evacuates jet in Atlanta due to cabin smoke

ATLANTA (AP) — Fire officials say a Delta Air Lines jet at Atlanta's international airport has been evacuated after a report of smoke in the cabin.

Atlanta Fire Rescue spokeswoman Janet Ward said the smoke eventually dissipated Tuesday evening. She said crew members could not identify its source and called in maintenance staff.

Ward says no injuries have been reported. Delta Air Lines representatives did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment and details on the type of aircraft, number of passengers it was carrying or its origin and destination.
