CINCINNATI (AP) — A year after the discovery and identification of her remains in Indiana, a 21-year-old Ohio woman's death remains as mysterious as her disappearance 20 months earlier.
Indiana State Police say they have had no breakthroughs in the Katelyn (KAYT'-lin) Markham homicide investigation. They and police in her Fairfield, Ohio, hometown say they continue to check into tips and information.
Markham was reported missing in August 2011, triggering several massive searches by police, outside search teams and volunteers. Posters with her photo went up around her home region, along with Facebook and other online efforts seeking information about her disappearance.
People looking for scrap metal spotted remains April 7, 2013, in an Indiana creek area some 25 miles west of her home. The remains were identified as Markham's on April 10.
