CINCINNATI (AP) — The General Electric Co. reportedly is ready to commit to adding 1,000 or more jobs in the Cincinnati area.
An announcement is expected sometime Thursday. Fairfield, Conn.-based GE declined to comment immediately.
The Cincinnati Enquirer (http://cin.ci/1gce7eC ) cites unnamed "sources outside the company" that GE plans 1,000 to 2,000 mainly office jobs for the southwest Ohio area. Three locations in Cincinnati or one of its suburbs are considered front-runners for the site.
The jobs reportedly are unrelated to GE's Aviation division, which is based in the northern Cincinnati suburb of Evendale. The Enquirer reports that GE could move some employees to downtown Cincinnati early next year while new offices are being built. The company is reportedly seeking as much as 400,000 square feet of office space.
