Man accused of selling medical pot to authorities

FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) — A San Tan Valley man is in custody for allegedly selling medical marijuana to an undercover narcotics detective.

Officials with the Pinal County Sheriff's Narcotic Task Force say they received information in February that 32-year-old Phillip Vaughn was selling high-grade hydroponic marijuana.

During the next few weeks, authorities say Vaughn allegedly sold the marijuana to an undercover detective on numerous occasions.

He was arrested on March 27 after completing a $100 transaction.

Sheriff's officials say Vaughn admitted he was using his Arizona medical marijuana program identification card to purchase the drug at various medical marijuana shops around the San Tan Valley area and then selling it.

Vaughn remains jailed on suspicion of marijuana possession and possession of marijuana for sale.

It was unclear Tuesday if Vaughn has a lawyer yet.
