CUSTER, S.D. (AP) — The Crazy Horse Memorial will light up in blue this week to commemorate World Autism Awareness Day.
The special lighting will take place at 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Admission to the memorial in western South Dakota will be waived after 5 p.m. to anyone making a monetary donation or giving three canned goods to a food drive benefiting the Feeding South Dakota food bank.
The Empire State Building in New York and the Sydney Opera House in Australia are among the buildings that have previously light up in blue.
Officials with the memorial say the awareness day is meant to celebrate the unique talents and skills of individuals with autism.
