TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma State University Medical Authority in Tulsa has selected Mercy Health System to manage its 249-bed OSU Medical Center hospital in Tulsa.
The medical authority announced the choice Monday.
The medical authority and Mercy will now begin discussions for a long-term management contract that includes upgrades and modernization of the hospital.
The OSUMA is the state agency and trust established in 2013 that owns the facility. The Medical Center is the nation's largest osteopathic teaching hospital and trains about 150 primary care physicians annually in addition to providing health care services.
Mercy is the sixth largest Catholic health care system in the U.S. with 33 acute care hospitals, four heart hospitals, two children's hospitals, two rehab hospitals, an orthopedic hospital and nearly 700 clinic and outpatient facilities.
