ATLANTA (AP) — Federal prosecutors say two men who owned and operated a pill mill pain clinic have been convicted of drug and money laundering charges.
Authorities said Wednesday that 30-year-old Jason Cole Votrobek, of Vero Beach Fla. and Roland Rafael Castellanos, 34, of Hollywood, Fla., ran a clinic called "Atlanta Medical Group" in Cartersville, Ga., and their co-conspirators were illegally prescribing pain medications to customers.
Authorities say Votrobek and Castellanos financed and operated the clinic. A Cartersville woman worked as office manager and a Macon, Ga. doctor served as the clinic's primary physician.
Prosecutors say the group distributed oxycodone pills and ordered the doctor to see as many patients and prescribe as much medication as possible. Authorities say the clinic's doctor didn't conduct proper exams and was usually intoxicated while at work.
