Vermont psych facility gets federal approval

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — The Green Mountain Psychiatric Care Center in Morrisville has become the first such state facility in Vermont to win federal certification for the first time since 2003.

That means the eight-bed facility will be eligible for federal Medicaid payments.

The certification follows two inspections — called site surveys. One in December looked at standards applied to all hospitals. A second one in February assessed standards for psychiatric hospitals.

Mental Health Commissioner Paul Dupre says the state has been helped in achieving certification through its partnership with Copley Hospital and Lamoille County Community Mental Health Services.
