Clintons, Giffords wrap up student conference

PHOENIX (AP) — Former President Bill Clinton and former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords are wrapping up the annual Clinton Global Initiative University conference Sunday with a service project in downtown Phoenix.

The event at a community garden concludes a weekend conference that drew more than 1,000 students who heard speeches from former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Arizona Sen. John McCain and an interview with the Clintons by late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel.

The former president was headlining a project at PHX Renews, which aims to convert vacant city lots into urban gardens and community space for public use.

The former first lady, who is considering a 2016 presidential campaign, told college students she was "very much concerned" about the direction of the country but is still considering her future plans.
