Flooding temporarily closes NH health center

NEWPORT, N.H. (AP) — The Newport Health Center will be closed until March 31 after flooding from frozen drainpipes damaged parts of the New Hampshire building.

The Eagle Times (http://bit.ly/1nKF4LN ) reports that healthcare providers have temporarily relocated to New London Hospital.

The paper says up to 3,000 gallons of water flooded part of the NHC building when drainpipes on the roof froze, allowing the water to force its way to the ground floor. The damage was to the patient check-in, waiting room and rehabilitation areas.

Patients should call the normal number to schedule appointments and to arrange transportation if needed. A shuttle service is being offered.

There was minor damage to computers but no electronic records were affected and no paper records were damaged.

Firefighters cleared the roof of ice.
