WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is helping raise money for the Democratic Party at an event near the White House.
Democratic officials say about 25 supporters were expected to attend a round-table discussion at the Jefferson Hotel. They paid up to $32,400 to hear from Obama.
The event was closed to the media because Obama was not scheduled to make formal remarks.
The Democratic National Committee has been trying to erase millions of dollars in debt left over from Obama's 2012 re-election campaign.
The party reported owing more than $15 million through the end of January.
