LOS ANGELES (AP) — Former NFL All-Pro safety Darren Sharper is scheduled to return to court for a hearing that will determine whether he will soon be released from a Los Angeles jail.
A judge had indicated last week that she would release Sharper from custody if authorities in Louisiana did not formally charge indict him on rape charges. No charges have been filed in New Orleans, but the former player was indicted on drug and rape charges in Tucson, Ariz., this week.
The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office has declined to say whether they will ask a judge on Thursday morning to continue to hold Sharper without bail because of the Arizona case.
The 38-year-old has pleaded not guilty to charges he raped and drugged two women in Los Angeles County.
