Obama, Clinton circles overlap in Dem fundraising

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama and Clinton orbits are aligning at a New York fundraiser for the benefit of the Democratic National Committee, as the former first lady weighs her own White House bid in 2016.

President Barack Obama is traveling to the high-dollar event Tuesday, held at the home of a longtime supporter of ex-Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. The host is Alan Patricof (PAT'-ri-coff), the founder of a New York venture capital fund. He's a longtime Clinton friend and financial bundler for her Senate and 2008 presidential campaigns.

The DNC has been trying to reduce millions of dollars in debt accumulated during Obama's re-election campaign. A second event will help the campaign arm of Senate Democrats defending their majority in the 2014 midterm elections.
