SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Investigators are looking into the possibility that arson was to blame for an early-morning house fire in San Jose that left a man and woman with serious burn injuries.
Fire officials say the blaze was reported around 3:45 a.m. Friday. Crews that first arrived at the scene encountered 20 to 30-foot flames coming from the back of the home, where the blaze is believed to have started.
Fire officials say bars on the windows may have made it more difficult for the man and woman to escape. They were eventually able to get out through the garage.
Fire Capt. Reggie Williams tells the San Jose Mercury News (http://bit.ly/1geMaPg) an arson probe was launched after an investigator met with the victims.
