Inmate gets 8 more years for attack on Ohio guard

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — An inmate who knocked a guard unconscious at an Ohio prison has been sentenced to eight more years in prison.

Investigators say the attack happened at the Toledo Correctional Institution in November.

Prosecutors say Marquise Perry punched the guard at least 17 times. She still has not returned to work because of the injuries.

A Lucas County judge on Thursday ordered that Perry serve his additional eight years after he finishes a 22-year sentence he already is serving.

The Blade newspaper in Toledo ( ) reports that Perry had been convicted of involuntary manslaughter and attempted murder out of Franklin County.

A message comment was left with Perry's attorney.
