180th Fighter Wing in Ohio getting new commander

SWANTON, Ohio (AP) — The Ohio Air National Guard's 180th Fighter Wing based in northwest Ohio is getting a new commander.

The Adjutant General's Department said in a statement that Col. Craig R. Baker was taking command of the fighter wing from Col. Steven Nordhaus in a ceremony Sunday.

Maj. Gen. Deborah Ashenhurst, Ohio's adjutant general was set to preside over the ceremony at the Toledo Air National Guard Base at Toledo Express Airport in Swanton.

Baker is a U.S. Military Academy at West Point graduate and an active duty Air Force command pilot with more than 2,500 flight hours. He previously was the 57th Wing vice commander at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.

Nordhaus has been promoted to executive assistant for Gen. Frank Grass, chief of the National Guard Bureau, in Washington.
