Ohio police officer, other man injured in crash

MEDINA, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a police officer has been critically injured and another man seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in northeast Ohio.

The State Highway Patrol's Medina post says 43-year-old Jack Justice, of Valley City, was traveling on a road in Medina County early Saturday morning when a pickup truck driver failed to make a curve traveling northbound and drove off the road. The patrol says 23-year-old Dalton Phillips, of Columbia Station, then over-corrected his truck and drove left of center where he was hit by Justice's southbound car.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports that Sgt. Dave Huspaska of the North Olmsted Police Department says Justice is a North Olmsted officer but was off-duty when the crash occurred shortly after midnight.

The patrol says its investigation is continuing.
