Nevada puppies investigated for rabies

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Authorities in Carson City say they have found all but one of 10 puppies being sought for possible rabies.

Health officials say as many as 25 people may have been exposed and they are being urged to get treatment.

The Nevada Appeal (http://bit.ly/1eI4wHk) reports that the litter of boxer mix puppies was born in November and originated in the Minden area.

When one dog tested positive for rabies, health officials began looking for its litter mates as a precaution. It's unknown where the dog became infected or if that case is isolated.

Carson City health officials say one puppy and an unvaccinated cat were exposed to the litter. Both were tested, and neither has the disease.

Tests are being conducted on the other puppies.
