ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A man who poisoned two dogs while trying to kill a brown bear at a Sitka golf course was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
Kevin Taranoff was the groundskeeper at Sea Mountain Golf Course last October when he decided to poison the bear that had been tearing up the course. He put antifreeze in food and left it outside where it was eaten by two pet dogs that died.
Taranoff pleaded guilty Monday to using unlawful methods and means to take game.
The Anchorage Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/1hHISGF ) the 31-year-old Sitka man also was fined $1,000 and ordered to pay restitution.
