PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Fire investigators in Portland say the production of hash oil likely caused a house fire that left one man with burns.
The injured man was taken to a local hospital burn center. One firefighter suffered a puncture wound to a knee while searching the home for possible victims Thursday. He was treated and released.
Smoke and flames greeted fire crews when they arrived at the southeast Portland home.
Fire Lt. Rich Chatman says fire investigators and Portland police drug investigators surveyed the home's basement and determined that hash oil was being produced. Chatman says investigators believe the hash oil production was directly related to the cause of the fire.
