TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — A man who stabbed and robbed a woman at an Ohio gas station before eluding capture for three decades has been sentenced to prison for the crimes.
Sixty-one-year-old Odis Hughes was sentenced to three to 15 years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty last month to robbery and felonious assault in Toledo.
The (Toledo) Blade (http://bit.ly/1mHcYjZ ) reports that Hughes moved to Denver after the 1984 crime. He assumed another name and lived a low-key life before Denver police came across his warrant last summer while investigating him for impersonating a police officer.
Prosecutors say Hughes stabbed and robbed Tonia Ramey-Guy at a gas station she managed. She knew it was Hughes because they were once friends.
Hughes apologized to the victim Tuesday, blaming his behavior on drugs.
