WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — A motorist says he found Kerry Kennedy slumped at the steering wheel of her Lexus and disoriented on a suburban New York highway.
William Carlino testified Monday at Kennedy's trial on a drugged-driving charge.
An earlier witness, Henry Myers, said he saw Kennedy swerve into a tractor-trailer and keep driving despite tire damage.
Defense lawyer Gerald Lefcourt says Kennedy is not disputing that she drove erratically in 2012. He says Kennedy accidentally took a sleeping pill that morning instead of her thyroid medication.
Prosecutors say it's up to the jury to decide whether she took the drug accidentally. And they say she broke the law if she kept driving after feeling the drug's effects.
Kennedy is the ex-wife of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Robert F. Kennedy's daughter.
