RNC raises $8 million in January

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Republican National Committee raised almost $8 million dollars in the first month of the year and has about $10 million in the bank.

That's what the party announced Thursday. The Democratic National Committee is expected to release its January fundraising report later in the day.

The RNC says it is focused on building a database of potential supporters this year. It says it carries no debt. The RNC also says 98 percent of its money raised in January came in increments of $200 or less.
