Ohio man convicted of sex trafficking, drug crimes

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio man accused of forcing four women, including a teenager, into prostitution has been convicted of human trafficking, drug crimes and obstruction of justice.

Federal authorities say 38-year-old Jeremy Mack of Elyria (eh-LEER'-ee-uh) was found guilty Tuesday of nine counts in U.S. District Court in Akron. His sentencing is scheduled for May 29.

Mack's attorney declined comment because sentencing was pending.

Mack was arrested last April along with 24-year-old Ashley Onysko of Avon Lake. She previously pleaded guilty to charges related to her role in the case.

U.S. Attorney Steven Dettelbach (DEHT'-ehl-bahk) alleges the pair used narcotics to gain control over the four victims.

The indictment says after the victims incurred drug debts, Mack used force, threats, fraud and coercion to compel them to engage in commercial sex acts.
