Covington chiropractor indicted on fraud charges

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A federal grand jury has indicted a Covington chiropractor on 30 counts of health care fraud and four counts of aggravated identity theft.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite's office says 43-year-old David Lee Killen billed Medicare, Medicaid and private insurers for products and medical procedures he never performed.

Prosecutors say Killen also billed insurers for back braces that cost nearly $1,000 each but instead gave patients much less expensive substitutes.

It was unclear whether Killen has an attorney.
