CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (AP) — A judge says an Ohio woman with a history of impaired driving charges "slipped through the cracks" before driving drunk last summer and killing another motorist.
Shira Seymour was sentenced to the maximum eight years in prison Tuesday after she pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide in a courtroom in Chillicothe, south of Columbus.
A security video from a local bar showed Seymour so drunk that she was falling from her bar stool. Prosecutors said she then got in her car and slammed into a Lincoln Navigator driven by local attorney Annie Rooney, who was killed.
The 36-year-old Seymour has 24 misdemeanor charges dating to 1997. She had been charged with drunken driving four times, but they were reduced. She has had her license suspended three times.
