BATAVIA, Ohio (AP) — This year's Ohio Police and Fire Games will be held in June in Clermont County just east of Cincinnati.
Organizers say registration has begun for the Olympic-style competition that will have 40 events for first responders from across Ohio and elsewhere. They include shooting competitions, track and field, wrestling, weightlifting, softball and other team sports.
Besides supporting fitness and camaraderie, the games generate proceeds to benefit several charities. A raffle and silent auction also will raise funds.
Organizers say the 2014 games June 8-13 will be the 37th consecutive year for the event in Ohio. Clermont County Sheriff A.J. "Tim" Rodenberg and his office are hosting this year's games.
