Former TV Guide columnist Joe Finnigan dies

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Joe Finnigan, longtime Hollywood entertainment reporter and columnist for TV Guide, has died at age 88.

Finnigan's son David Finnigan said Thursday his father died Jan. 22 at a retirement home in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley.

Finnigan, who began his career as a copy boy for the San Francisco Examiner, also worked for United Press International for many years.

He wrote TV Guide's "TV Teletype" column from 1965 to 1983.

After leaving TV Guide, Finnigan wrote for Emmy magazine and other publications.

He occasionally appeared in TV shows and films, usually portraying a reporter.
