Metairie doctor president of La. medical society

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Dr. Roberto Quintal of Metairie has been elected president of the Louisiana State Medical Society.

A native of Mexico, Quintal is the Chief of the Heart and Vascular Center at Touro Infirmary; the Rajendra Dhurandhar Professor of Cardiology at LSU Medical School in New Orleans and a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine.

The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/1byF5e7 ) he received his medical degree from the Universidad de Yucatan in 1975, a master's degree in public health and a doctorate in parasitology from Tulane University School of Public Health in 1978. Then, he did his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology at Tulane University School of Medicine.
