Ohio brothers plead not guilty in triple slayings

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Two northeast Ohio brothers pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder in a New Year's Eve robbery-shooting that killed a man and his two teenage children.

Separate arraignments for 22-year-old Michael Hendon and 30-year-old Eric Hendon were held Tuesday before a judge in Akron.

They were indicted in January on charges also including attempted murder, aggravated robbery and felonious assault in the Barberton slayings.

They could face the death penalty if convicted.

They were arrested Jan. 3 after 42-year-old John Kohler died at an Akron hospital. Authorities said Kohler's children — 18-year-old Ashley Carpenter and 14-year-old David Kohler-Carpenter — died in the shootings at their father's home.

John Kohler's girlfriend was wounded.

Eric Hendon was released from prison in June after finishing a 13-year sentence for shooting a woman.
