CLEVELAND (AP) — An ex-convict has been indicted in Cleveland in the death of a 5-year-old girl shot in the head while sitting in a vehicle with her mother.
The prosecutor's office said Monday that a Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH'-guh) County grand jury indicted 32-year-old Geoffrey Gurkovich of Cleveland on 18 counts including aggravated murder and attempted murder.
He faces arraignment Wednesday.
No attorney was listed for Gurkovich in the felony court docket. He earlier pleaded not guilty in Municipal Court on an aggravated murder charge filed by city prosecutors.
Gurkovich is accused of killing Jermani (JEHR'-muh-nee) Brooks last month. Her mother was wounded.
Police said the girl was not the intended target and allege Gurkovich intended to shoot a man who got into an argument with his girlfriend.
