Cycling event in Miami for rare cancer research

MIAMI (AP) — Nearly 300 cancer survivors, patients, their families and others are expected to gather in Miami for a team cycling event to raise money for rare cancer research.

The Cycle for Survival will take place Saturday at Equinox Coral Gables.

All money raised will go to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to fund rare cancer clinical trials and research studies within six months of the event.

More than 13,000 riders are expected to participate in Cycle for Survival events in 13 cities across the nation this year.

Since 2007, the events have raised more than $37 million to fund 85 clinical trials and research studies.
