Funerals set for Ohio firefighters killed in blaze

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Funerals and a "last alarm" memorial service are planned later this week for two Toledo firefighters killed in a northwest Ohio apartment blaze.

A memorial service for the two men is scheduled Thursday night at a downtown convention center.

Visitation for 31-year-old James Dickman is scheduled earlier that day at a Perrysburg church, with a funeral planned Friday afternoon in Sandusky.

The visitation for 42-year-old Stephen Machcinski starts Friday afternoon at a Toledo funeral home. His funeral is scheduled there Saturday morning.

Firefighters carried the men out of a burning apartment building on stretchers last Sunday and tried to save them. Autopsies showed that both men died from burns and carbon monoxide.

Thousands of condolence messages from all over the country have been posted on Facebook tribute pages for them.
