MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — An early childhood obesity prevention program at West Virginia University is doling out 14 grants totaling more than $38,000 in Kanawha and Monongalia counties.
Choose to Change is funded by a $4.7 million grant over five years from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The grants announced Wednesday include $4,000 apiece for a Monongalia County health department program, the Shack Neighborhood House in Morgantown, two civic and church groups in the city, and the Rand Community Center near Charleston.
Smaller grants also are being given out to nine other groups.
