CHARDON, Ohio (AP) — A northeast Ohio man has pleaded guilty to aggravated murder in the seemingly random slaying of a 17-year-old boy struck with the door of a passing car and then beaten with a pipe.
Twenty-six-year-old Dustin Plottke of Rome Township in Ashtabula (ash-tuh-BYOO'-luh) County pleaded guilty Wednesday in the death of Daniel Swan.
A prosecutor will recommend a sentence of life in prison with parole eligibility after 25 years.
Swan's body was found along a Geauga (jee-AW'-guh) County road in July 2010.
A companion who pleaded guilty to complicity said Plottke opened the passenger door and hit Swan, then urged him to go back. He said Plottke hit Swan with a pipe.
Investigators got a break last year with evidence developed when a suspect was arrested for an unrelated crime.
