Wife of Reno sportscaster dies of cancer

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The wife of a Reno television sports director who was killed in an accident has died.

KTVN-TV reports that Jaimie Metzker died Monday after a six year battle with breast cancer. She was 44.

Services are pending.

She leaves three small boys after the 2011 death of her husband, KTVN sports director J.K. Metzker. He was killed in a hit-and-run accident on North Virginia Street after attending a UNR football game.

Jaimie Metzker publicly forgave 23-year-old Ryan Rhea, an Iraq War veteran who pleaded guilty to one count of felony hit and run. Rhea was sentenced to probation and community service.

KTVN says the couple's children will live with Jaimie's sister.
