FAIRFIELD, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a 23-year-old southwestern Ohio man was fatally shot by a police officer while authorities were investigating a domestic disturbance between the man and his father.
Fairfield police said the son forced his way into his father's house and got into a fight with him around 8 p.m. Saturday. Police say the son fled from the house after officers arrived.
A Fairfield police officer located the suspect a couple of blocks away and police say the officer fired multiple times at the man. Police did not say what led to the shooting. The officer will be placed on paid administrative leave while the shooting is being investigated.
Police have not identified the victim or the officer. They said the officer is a 10-year veteran of the department.
