Iowa woman sentenced for crash that injured child

MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) — A 40-year-old Sheffield woman has been sentenced to a decade in prison for a crash that severely injured a child.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (http://bit.ly/1h103my) that Robin Jenks was sentenced early this week to 10 years in prison on charges related to the April 2013 crash. Authorities say Jenks was drunk when she lost control of her 1994 Honda Accord.

On Monday, a judge ordered Jenks to serve five years for child endangerment resulting in bodily injury and five years for serious injury by vehicle. Those sentences will be served at the same time.

But Jenks must also serve a five-year sentence for third-offense operating while under the influence and pay a $3,125 fine for the OWI conviction.
