COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio teen accused in several shootings has been indicted on charges in what prosecutors call a week-long crime spree that left at least two people dead last summer.
A Franklin County grand jury returned a 14-count indictment Thursday against 17-year-old Devonere (dev-ohn-AHR') Simmonds. The charges include aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and attempted murder.
Simmonds is being tried as an adult. His attorney in a separate case says Simmonds expected the indictment and does not have a statement at this time.
According to the indictment, the spree began July 21 with the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old and then the slaying of a store clerk three days later. The boy and another teen also allegedly shot another man on July 27. Both teens were arrested in Dayton the next day.
