2 killed in separate snow-related Ohio crashes

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities in northeast Ohio say two people were killed in weather-related crashes as a snow storm blew through the state.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said 60-year-old Mary K. Durbin Aken of New Philadelphia was killed at about 5 p.m. Thursday when she lost control of her Toyota Matrix and it slid into the path of a snow plow in Wayne County.

The plow's driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

In Stark County, 75-year-old Caroline L. Kunz of Alliance was killed when she lost of her Oldsmobile Intrigue at about noon Thursday. The Akron Beacon Journal (http://bit.ly/1dZiAgM ) reports that the car hit a guardrail and then drove into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer.

The truck's 53-year-old driver was treated for minor injuries.
