Another storm to bring heavy snow, rain to northern New England

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A week after an ice storm left parts of northern New England in the dark, a fast moving storm is expected to drop heavy, wet snow in parts of Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire that could cause more power outages.

A winter storm watch is in effect for much of Vermont from Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon. The forecast calling for six or more inches of heavy wet snow on the higher terrain of eastern, central and southern Vermont. Inland areas of central New Hampshire and western Maine could get 6 to 10 inches of snow while rain rather than snow is forecast for coastal areas.

Some 1,300 Vermonters remained without power Sunday.

Central Maine power reported 87 customers without power Sunday morning, down from a high of 87,000. Bangor Hydro Electric reports 3,300 customers are without power.
