AirCare sets up home in Meridian

MERIDIAN, Miss. (AP) — AirCare, a medical transport helicopter from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, has based out of Jackson, now has a permanent hangar at Key Field in Meridian.

The Meridian Star reports (http://bit.ly/Jhz3E6 ) that AirCare has had a temporary home in Meridian since 2009.

Medical flight crews consist of flight nurses and flight paramedics who can transport patients to hospitals throughout the state.

Officials say the permanent home in Meridian shows the commitment UMMC has in east Mississippi. UMMC's other helicopter is based in Jackson.

AirCare in Meridian is made up of four flight crews consisting of a flight nurse, a paramedic, and a pilot.
