NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Police Department says a man and his 3-year-old son died after plummeting from a Manhattan apartment building.

Authorities say they received an emergency call reporting two jumpers from the 52-floor building around noon Sunday. Officers found the 35-year-old man and the boy on the rooftops of two nearby buildings.

Police say the father was pronounced dead at the scene and the child was pronounced dead at a local hospital. No identifications have been released.

The circumstances of the fall are unclear. Authorities are investigating. Police say the father did not appear to live in the building.

The address is an Upper West Side building listed as South Park Tower. The building is a short distance away from Columbus Circle and Lincoln Center.
