Ohio college students invite pope to dinner

NORTH CANTON, Ohio (AP) — A group of Ohio college students studying in Rome offered a long-shot dinner invitation to Pope Francis.

The students from Walsh University left for Rome Oct. 25. They were due back in North Canton by this weekend without word on a papal dinner guest.

Program director Michael Cinson says the students understand the pope is extremely busy.

The students handed Francis a handmade pink, heart-shaped card during his general audience at St. Peter's Square last week.

According to the Akron Beacon Journal (bit.ly/IPX7O0) the card was signed on the front by 14 students and three faculty members participating in a Rome study program.

The card included an invitation to dinner at their residence in Castel Gandolfo, Italy, also the home of the pope's summer residence.
