HONOLULU (AP) — The state is investigating what caused dozens of Oahu elementary school students to get sick after eating lunch.
The state Department of Education said about 40 students from Waipahu Elementary fell sick on Tuesday. Their symptoms indicated they may have had food poisoning.
Emergency Medical Services personnel treated the students at the school and took them to hospitals for evaluation.
The department says it will provide temperature logs and a sample lunch to Department of Health officials for analysis.
They will also investigate whether any food students and staff may have brought to the campus may be at fault. Nearly 1,150 students attend Waipahu Elementary.
