BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — The Vermont Health Department says no cases of influenza have been reported in the state so far this season, but it's on its way.
So officials are urging everyone age 6 months and older to get vaccinated. And Dec. 8-14 is National Influenza Vaccination Week.
Cases of the flu have been reported in surrounding states and in the province of Quebec.
Those most at risk for serious illness, hospitalization and death from the flu are pregnant women, children too young to be vaccinated, people age 65 and older, and people with chronic conditions.
In addition to getting vaccinated, people can reduce the risk of spreading the flu by covering your mouth and nose every time you sneeze or cough and staying home when you're sick.
