Prison time for ex-Ohio band director in sex case

BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (AP) — A former high school band director in western Ohio has been sentenced to 7 ½ years in prison after a jury found him guilty in a case involving sexual conduct with female students.

Logan County Judge Mark O'Connor handed down the sentence for John Shook following his conviction after a trial that ended last month.

The Bellefontaine Examiner reports Monday (http://bit.ly/1e1Ftow ) that Shook, of DeGraff, could have faced up to 39 years at sentencing.

A jury found the 35-year-old Shook guilty of six counts of sexual battery, one count of attempted sexual battery and five counts of gross sexual imposition and acquitted him on one count of attempted sexual battery.

He was accused of misconduct with three students. A message was left with Shook's attorney.
