Memorial set for Rockford medical helicopter crash

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) — A memorial is planned to mark the one-year anniversary of a medical helicopter crash that killed a pilot and two nurses in northern Illinois.

The Rockford Register Star reports (http://bit.ly/IMfm6p) three chimes will ring at Rockford Memorial Hospital on Tuesday after a moment of silence. Jim Dillow, Karen Hollis and Andy Olesen were members of the medical flight crew who died in the rural Compton crash on Dec. 10 last year.

Crew members and the victims' families are to attend a private morning memorial. The public moment of silence will be at 3 p.m., followed by remarks from the hospital chaplain and the three chimes. One chime will ring for each victim.

The helicopter crashed in Lee County on the way to pick up a patient in Mendota.
